Story Preview

Deep under the waves, where the water turns blue-black, there is a place called the Stillhold. The oldest quiet things sleep there, wrapped in slow currents and soft light.

Zuri the seahorse calf drifted past coral towers. The water hummed low, like a lullaby sung by the sea itself. She flicked her tail, just once, and the hum grew louder. ZURI: "Do you hear that, Kofi?" Kofi the turtle glided beside her. His shell was smooth, his eyes half-closed. KOFI: "The Stillhold is singing. It only sings for those who listen."

Zuri tilted her head. The hum came from a cave, its mouth draped in seaweed. Inside, the water was still. No fish darted. No bubbles rose. Just quiet, waiting. ZURI: "Do you see the quiet glow?"
