The deeper you fly, the softer everything becomes, until the last exhibit is not a thing at all, but silence itself. Tonight, you are Veer, a young bird who reads the wind like others read stories. And tonight, the wind has brought you here, to find something you didn’t know was missing.
The Vault of Whispers was not a building, but a valley shaped like a sleeping bird, its wings folded over shelves of mist. Each shelf held an exhibit: a sigh from a hundred years ago, the last breath of a dying star, the pause between two heartbeats. Veer’s feathers ruffled in the cool air as he glided down, his sharp eyes scanning the quiet treasures.
Above him, a cloud drifted, soft and silver. It lowered itself when the world below grew still, and glowed faintly, like moonlight on water. Veer had never seen anything like it.
