Story Preview
Close your eyes and let the water lift you. Above, the sky is a dark bowl of salt and stars, and below, the reef hums with sleeping fish. Somewhere between, where the waves rock like a cradle, is the Watching Cove. Here, the night doesn’t hurry. It waits. And if you listen with your whole body, you’ll hear the dreams rising like bubbles.
Tukalu drifted into the Watching Cove, his tiny fins stirring the warm current. The water here tasted different—softer, like moonlight dissolved in salt. Above him, the Dreaming Cloud pulsed faintly, its edges glowing blue when the world below was quiet.
TUKALU: "Sila? Are you awake?" A slow ripple answered. Sila, the old sea turtle, surfaced beside him, her shell covered in glowing barnacles.
