Story Preview
Close your eyes and smell the air—warm like fresh bread, sweet like honey, rich like slow-cooked berries. That’s the scent of the Night Pot, a great iron kettle bigger than a house, where sleep is stirred every evening by the Moon Cook. The fire never burns too hot, the spoon never stops turning, and the steam that rises is the softest blanket in the world. Tonight, something is missing. The steam isn’t rising. And that’s where you are—Tavi, a small fox kit with ears too big for your head and paws that twitch when you’re curious.
The Night Pot hums low, like a sleepy cat. You pad closer, your nose twitching. The usual golden glow is dim tonight. Only a faint shimmer flickers near the rim.
TAVI: "Lumi?" A small copper ladle near your paw trembles. Its handle is shaped like a curled leaf, and it glows when you look at it.
