Story Preview

The sky was a dark bowl above the tiny valley. Cirrus floated there, small and soft, watching the stars. The stars were not still. They moved in slow circles, like dancers. Cirrus loved the way their light made the air shimmer.

One star near the edge seemed different. It was brighter, and its light stretched downward like a thread. Cirrus drifted closer, just a little. The thread was thin, like spider silk, but it glowed. No one else seemed to see it. The other clouds were busy holding moonlight in their bellies. Cirrus reached out with a tiny tendril of mist. The thread touched their edge.

A soft hum filled the air, like a song without words. Cirrus felt warm inside, as if the star had given them a secret. Below, the tiny world slept. Mushrooms glowed blue in the dark, and streams sparkled silver. Cirrus wondered if the thread was meant for them.
