It was evening, and evenings always meant the stars were waking up. Zib stretched her long, silver fingers toward the sky. Her ship, no bigger than a pebble, drifted near a planet wrapped in soft blue clouds. The planet hummed like a sleepy cat. She tilted her head. The hum was warm, like the sound of her mother’s voice when she sang. Zib had heard planets before, but never one that hummed. The planet hummed like a sleepy cat.
