Rusty the fox discovers a tiny glowing door at the base of an old oak tree. His friend Moss the tortoise asks the one question that changes everything: what if it’s not a door at all?

One day, Rusty said to Moss — Rusty’s nose twitched. Something smelled like honey and rain. He padded closer to the oak tree, where the roots curled like sleeping snakes. There it was — a door, no bigger than a teacup, carved into the bark. It glowed faintly, like a firefly trapped inside. The door hummed when the wind blew. Can you guess what Rusty did? He tapped it with his paw. The door swung open just a crack, and warm golden light spilled out. Moss stretched his neck. "What if it’s not a door at all?" he said. Rusty tilted his head. The light inside smelled like cinnamon and old books. The door hummed when the wind blew. "Maybe it’s a mouth," Moss whispered. "Or a pocket. Or a secret." Rusty sat very still. The glow made his fur look like autumn leaves. Between you and me, he didn’t go inside. He just watched the light dance on the roots. The door hummed when the wind blew. The oak tree creaked. The wind sighed. The door closed softly, as if it had never been open at all. And Rusty found his answer.
