Long ago, before stars knew how to twinkle... Kai lived in a village where the trees touched the sky. Every night, Kai climbed the tallest tree to watch the stars. But one night, the smallest star did not glow. It hung still, like a forgotten candle. Kai reached up. The star sighed like wind through leaves. Can you guess what the star whispered? Kai leaned closer. The star said, I forgot how to breathe. Kai sat very still. The tree swayed gently. Kai closed his eyes and listened to the wind. It came in soft waves, like a sleeping cat’s purr. The star sighed like wind through leaves. Kai smiled. He breathed in, slow and warm. He breathed out, slow and soft. The star copied him. At first, the star’s breath was shaky. A flicker here. A dim spark there. But Kai kept breathing. In and out. In and out. The star’s glow grew steady, like a heartbeat. Soon, the whole sky watched. Other stars leaned closer. They remembered how to breathe too. Kai yawned. His eyelids felt heavy. The star sighed like wind through leaves. Between you and me, the star’s breath was the warmest of all. Kai curled up in the tree’s branches. The wind rocked him like a cradle. The star’s light wrapped around him, soft like a blanket. The tree swayed. The wind hummed. The star breathed. Kai slept. And the sky remembered how to glow. And ever since then, the stars breathe with the wind.
