Close your eyes and imagine a place where the night is not dark, but warm. A valley where the air smells of cinnamon and honey, where the trees hum low and steady, like a sleeping cat’s purr. This is the Sleeping Hollow, where dreams are not caught, but stirred. And tonight, the stirring has stopped.
Kaeli’s paws pressed into the soft moss of the Sleeping Hollow. The ground here was always warm, like fresh bread cooling on a sill. But tonight, it felt different. The usual hum of the dream-stirring trees was gone. No gentle clinking of spoons against copper pots. No bubbling of golden sleep-brew in the great cauldron at the heart of the valley.
KAELI: "Sori? Do you hear that?" SORI: "Hear what, little one?" KAELI: "Nothing. That’s the problem."
