Long ago, when the night was too dark for little creatures, a tiny firefly named Flicker set out to find light. Along the way, he discovered something magical hiding in the grass—something that would light up the whole world, just for a moment.
A tiny firefly who wanted to bring light to the dark night.
He could make dewdrops glow by touching them with his wings.
Long ago, before fireflies knew how to shine... There was a little firefly named Flicker. His wings were soft like dandelion fluff. Every night, he watched the moon rise. Round and bright, like a silver coin. But the moon was too far away. Flicker wanted light he could hold. So he fluttered into the tall grass. The grass tickled his feet. The night was too dark for little wings. Shhh... listen... Do you hear that? A soft hum in the grass. Flicker flew closer. There, between the blades, was a tiny glow. Small and warm, like a secret. It was a dewdrop. But not just any dewdrop. This one held moonlight inside. Flicker touched it with his foot. The dewdrop shimmered. The night was too dark for little wings. Flicker had an idea. What if he could carry the light? He flew to another dewdrop. And another. And another. Soon, his wings sparkled with tiny lanterns. Can you see it? Flicker’s light blinking on and off. Soft and golden, like a candle. He flew higher. The grass below glowed too. Every dewdrop he touched shimmered. The night was too dark for little wings. Flicker’s friends saw the light. They flew to the dewdrops too. Soon, the whole meadow twinkled. Like stars fallen to the grass. Flicker landed on a leaf. He watched his friends glow. The night was no longer dark. It was full of tiny lanterns. Flicker’s light blinked once more. Then it faded. But his friends’ lights stayed. And so did the dewdrops’ glow. The moon smiled above. Flicker curled up on the leaf. His wings were warm. The grass hummed softly. The night was quiet. And ever since then, fireflies glow just for a little while.
